How House Bills are Scheduled
The process of a bill in the House more lengthy than the process in the Senate:
- Introduction and The Committee - A bill is introduced and placed in the "Hopper" a bin where all of the proposals go for the committee. The committee is the group that decides if and when a bill will be presented to the rest of the House.
- Committee Review - The Committee then reviews the bill extensively; they can study and revise if necessary.
- Debate and Vote - The bill is put up for debate, this is divided time so that the proponents and opponents have time to speak freely about the bill. The bill is then voted on.
